November 4 2020: On the meaning of the word Makom (מקום)

After Election Day in the United States, I find myself reflecting on Yehuda Amichai’s poem, ״המקום שבו אנו צודקים״ (“The Place Where We Are Right”), here in the original Hebrew and Stephen Mitchell’s translation from The Poetry of Yehuda Amichai, Ed. Robert Alter (2015).
